Description: We’ve become the hosts of what was initiated as a small annual BBQ to a celebration that has become open to the community. Over the years this meek comradeship has evolved into a regale known as Crabfest. Each year we have experienced greater numbers attending this outdoor event than that of the year prior. Description: The Virginia State University NPHC is comprised of nine Greek lettered organizations, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Fraternity, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. These nine organizations work collectively to compromised community service endeavors amongst their service areas. Every spring these nine organizations put of a spring step show for the campus of VSU. First place winners, one from a fraternity and one from a sorority, are awarded $1,000 dollars and trophy. Second place winners also receive a trophy and a monetary gift of $500. This annual competition has been known to unite students and bring back alumni from each respective organization. This year the VSU NPHC is looking to expand their show from their school’s gym to a bigger entertainment venue to accommodate the growing crowd of this event but a sponsor is need to help accommodate some costs of the venue, as well as, promotions.
